2207ss features a dual-phase ferrite–austenite microstructure, providing both high tensile strength and exceptional resistance to chloride-induced corrosion.
It significantly outperforms conventional austenitic grades such as 316L or 317L in resisting pitting and crevice corrosion, while offering mechanical strength nearly twice as high.
Designed for severe service environments — from seawater desalination plants to offshore oil and gas platforms — Duplex 2207 is the preferred choice when both corrosion resistance and strength are critical.

Hot Working: 1875–2150°F (1024–1177°C), followed by rapid cooling
Cold Working: Requires higher forming force than austenitic grades
Welding: Suitable with standard methods; post-weld annealing recommended for stress relief
Heat Treatment: Annealing at 1900–2100°F (1038–1149°C)
Hardening: Not hardenable by heat treatment; only through cold working

While both 2205 and 2207 belong to the duplex family, 2207 provides significantly higher strength and improved corrosion resistance, especially in seawater and acidic conditions.
