No.4 is the mill/industry grit designation for this finish — the name used in ASTM/US material specs and mill certificates. Satin finish is the same surface described by its visual result, and is the term more commonly used in architectural, retail, and consumer product contexts across the US and Europe.
Visually, satin No.4 carries fine parallel lines running in one direction across the metal — shorter and less continuous than hairline's grain, but with a brighter, more lustrous surface sheen. It sits between 2B and mirror on the reflectivity scale, with noticeably more shine than hairline's flatter, more matte appearance.
Sanmei supplies this satin No.4 finish on 304, 316, and 430 stainless steel coil and sheet, ready to ship with no MOQ.

The No.4 satin finish is produced by mechanically abrading the steel surface with abrasive belts, typically in the 150–180 grit range, run in one direction across the sheet or coil. Both coils start from a 2B or BA base; grit selection and pass count determine how pronounced the final brushed line pattern reads, and surface roughness lands around Ra 0.4–0.6 μm. Sanmei runs this satin/No.4 brushing in-house, so grit and direction can be adjusted to project specification.

Sanmei's coil-based No.4 satin finish is especially valuable when you need:
Even in large-scale architectural and product applications, our No.4 satin coils deliver a consistent, professional appearance — sheet to sheet, batch to batch.

The satin No.4 surface resists fingerprints and light scratching, which is why it's a common choice in:
Satin No.4 is common on flatware, cutlery, and cookware like double-walled cafetieres — the directional grain masks fine scratching from daily washing, keeping the surface looking consistent over years of use.
The brushed texture conceals water spots and light scratching better than a mirror or 2B surface, which is why it's a standard choice for kitchen sinks and similar fixtures.
Moderate reflectivity limits glare in indoor spaces, and the brushed surface holds up under constant hand contact — a common reason it's used for handrails and similar high-touch architectural elements.
The matte-satin sheen gives a clean, understated look on visible surfaces, without showing handling marks from daily use.

Deeply rooted in stainless steel materials. With over 10 years of focus on coils, sheets, profiles, and finishes, we control grade selection, surface consistency, and batch stability from the source.

Material quality starts at the source.
We work with verified mills and processors in Foshan to ensure traceable supply, consistent chemistry, and reliable performance across projects.

Engineering support built on material understanding.
Our engineers review drawings and specifications to ensure profiles and components are manufacturable with the selected materials.

Coordinated processing — not fragmented outsourcing.
Material processing, fabrication, and finishing are aligned to ensure what is specified can be delivered and installed as intended.
Base coils come from our TOP partner mills (Lisco, Tisco, Jisco, Posco PZSS, Yongjin, Hongwang) before undergoing surface finishing and coating in-house at our Foshan facility.
Every sheet and coil ships with protective PVC film from Polifilm (Germany) and Novacel (France). Adhesion level is matched to your downstream process — strong enough to stay in place through laser cutting or stamping without gas pressure lifting the film and causing edge blowout, but not so strong that it leaves residue when removed.
Seaworthy packaging using sturdy wooden crates or steel frames to ensure 100% surface perfection upon arrival. Exporting directly to North America, Europe, Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
2B finish is a cold-rolled stainless steel with a smooth, matte finish. It’s a cost-effective solution for industries needing durability and low maintenance.
