PVD Coated Stainless Steel Sheet

PVD, physical vapor deposition, vaporizes metal in a vacuum and deposits it on stainless steel as a thin, hard color film. The result is a rose gold, black, bronze or other color surface that resists scratches and corrosion. Sanmei Metal coats sheet by sheet on a continuous line, with a nano anti-fingerprint layer on top.

Up to 28% thicker film

Titanium gold coil measures 0.301 µm and rose gold 0.319 µm, against 0.235 and 0.250 µm for typical market coil.

No flaking

Cross-hatch adhesion test to GB/T 5270 shows no flaking, where typical coating loses up to about 5%.

Controlled color difference

Color is checked in CIE LAB both inline and offline: a* and b* within ±1, and L* within ±2 for dark tones, so panels from different coils still match.

Keep the color clean.

Colored and mirror surfaces show every touch. An anti-fingerprint layer on top of the PVD color keeps panels clean in kitchens, elevators and retail interiors.
Resists fingerprints, smudges and solvents.
Clear, so the color and the base finish look the same.

Sheets are cut by flying shear first, then coated one by one on a continuous line. No heat warping, consistent color batch to batch, and the full 200, 300 and 400 series.

PVD or water plating?

Two ways to color stainless steel.

We supply both. PVD is a dry vacuum process; water plating is a wet chemical coloring process.
Choose PVD for the hardest, most wear-resistant film and the longest-lasting color.
Choose water plating for more vivid colors at a lower cost, a good fit for budget-conscious decorative projects.

PVD coated stainless steel FAQ.

Questions buyers ask before specifying PVD.

Is PVD the best coating?

For decorative stainless steel, PVD is one of the most durable color finishes: scratch resistant, long-lasting and applied without wet chemicals. For very thick layers or extreme high temperatures, other solutions are better.

Is PVD stainless steel safe?

The coating is non-toxic and the process is clean. PVD sheet is widely used in kitchen equipment and restaurant interiors. If your project needs specific test reports, tell us and we confirm what we can provide.

Is PVD coating expensive?

It costs more than water plating up front, but lasts longer and needs less maintenance. On large projects, coil coating lowers the unit cost.

Does PVD sheet show fingerprints?

Much less than uncoated mirror or color sheet, thanks to the nano anti-fingerprint layer on top.
