J1 has slightly higher carbon content and lower copper content than J4. Its processing performance is slightly lower than J4. It is suitable for general shallow and deep drawing products, such as decorative panels, bathroom products, sinks, and product tubes.
J1 is generally considered equivalent to type 201, which corresponds to:
Due to its high hardness (all above 96°), J2 is a good choice for decorative pipe raw materials. However, it is not recommended to use 201 J2 stainless steel for square pipes or bent pipes because the high degree of bending can easily cause cracking.
J3 has lower copper content than J1 and J4, but higher than J2. It contains a small amount of copper and is suitable for pipes and mechanical frames requiring shallow processing, such as shelves, display racks, vehicle frames, and stainless steel furniture. 201 stainless steel J3 material can reduce costs while meeting the deformation requirements of stainless steel product manufacturers.
J4 is the high-end product of the J series, with the highest copper content and a higher price than J1. It is suitable for products requiring deep drawing and deep pulling. Although the corrosion resistance of 201 J4 is not as good as that of 304 and 316 stainless steel, it still provides satisfactory corrosion resistance in many applications. Particularly in indoor or low-corrosive environments, 201 J4 can offer adequate protection. Most products requiring deep salt and salt spray testing are suitable for use in household, catering, automotive industries, and other fields, making it a cost-effective choice.
304 stainless steel has lower manganese content, resulting in a brighter and whiter surface. 201 stainless steel has a higher manganese content, giving it a darker surface color.
