The spectrum of black.

Mirror black stainless steel: a mirror-polished base with a black PVD or water-plated finish. This high-gloss, reflective black is also called piano black, after the glossy lacquer on a piano.

Material philosophy

Color differences: water plating vs PVD titanium black.

Black mirror comes in two coating routes, and they do not produce the same black.

Water-plated black mirror: a chemically plated (wet-process) coloring. It gives the deep, conventional black most buyers picture when they hear "black mirror": richer, more saturated, closer to true black.

PVD titanium black mirror: a vacuum-deposited coating over the same mirror-polished base. The black reads lighter and more translucent, closer to a tinted black over a bright mirror, but the higher reflectivity underneath makes the surface more luminous.
