316 2B stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance, especially in marine, high-salinity, and chemically aggressive environments. The 316 stainless steel 2b finish, achieved through cold rolling, provides a smooth, matte surface that enhances the material’s resistance to corrosion and ensures compliance with stringent hygiene standards.

The addition of molybdenum in 316 stainless steel significantly improves its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion caused by chlorides, making it ideal for marine components and chemical processing equipment. For welding applications, 316L 2B stainless steel offers improved weldability due to its low carbon content (≤0.03%), which reduces carbide precipitation and maintains strong intergranular corrosion resistance.

Both 316 and 316L are non-magnetic in the annealed state but may exhibit slight magnetism after cold working.
