Why choose black hammered metal?

Black on its own is calm and flat. A hammered texture gives it character: every dimple breaks the surface, so the black gains depth and movement without losing its quiet tone.
More depth in dark schemes: paired with other dark materials, hammered black shows stronger layering than an ordinary textured black — the raised and recessed areas read as separate planes.
How the black goes on: some styles are PVD coated, others water plated. The route depends on the sample you pick and where the sheet will be installed — we confirm it before quoting.
Stainless underneath: the core is 201, 304, 316 or 430 stainless steel rather than painted mild steel, so the black sits on a corrosion-resistant base.

Where black hammered sheet works.

Black hammered sheet suits spaces built around contrast and low light: bar and lounge walls, restaurant counters, kitchen islands and range hoods, wardrobe and cabinet fronts, lift car interiors, and feature columns in hotel lobbies and retail stores. Set beside brass, walnut or stone, the dark texture frames the warmer materials instead of competing with them.

Is the black a coat of paint?

No. The black is a PVD coating or a water-plated layer on a stainless steel sheet (201, 304, 316, 430) — not paint on mild steel.

Will fingerprints show on black?

Dark, glossy surfaces show marks more readily than light ones. The hammered texture breaks up reflections, though, so smudges are far less noticeable than on a flat black sheet.

Matte or gloss protective oil — what's the difference?

Both protect the black surface. Matte oil keeps the finish low-sheen and calm; gloss oil adds shine, so the raised and recessed areas of the hammered texture reflect light differently.

Which stainless grade sits under the black?

304 covers most indoor projects. Pick 316 or 316L where the sheet faces coastal air or high humidity — tell us the location and we'll suggest one.

How do I fix black hammered panels to a wall?

Most interior panels are bonded to a flat substrate with construction adhesive, which keeps the black face free of screws. For large or heavy panels, ask us about framing and mechanical fixings.
